About

Design for the Dean is a Design Challenge where students compete for the opportunity to design an apparel look for Dr. Shannon Campbell, the Dean of the College of Fine and Applied Arts. The winning look is worn and modeled by the Dean at the annual showcase.

Pleated Fabric

The Process

1

Candidates, working individually or in teams of two, met with the Dean in a group to gather information such as fabrics, colors, and silhouettes.

3

The Dean chose a preferred design to continue the challenge. The winning designer consulted with the Dean to make fabric selections.

2

Following the meeting, the candidates developed three design concepts each.

4

Under the guidance of Dr. Wilson, the candidate(s) created the pattern to construct the chosen design with the cost of materials covered by the Dean.
